Kennedy Dera, Head of Human Resources for Tsebo Zimbabwe, has been appointed as the Vice President of the Employers Association of Hospitality and Catering, Zimbabwe.
The position reflects the effective inroads Tsebo has made in Zimbabwe by signalling the trust that is being placed in the brand in the relatively short time since launching.
The association represents the interests of more than 3000 businesses in the hospitality, tourism and catering industry by engaging in policy decisions that affect the industry. It also ensures that the government and other stakeholders appreciate the important contribution that this sector makes to Zimbabwe’s economy.
Dera has played a pivotal role in the association since 2015, but the new appointment will place him at the front line by necessitating that he initiate policy direction (through consultation) and lobby government on national policies, practices and standards on labour, employment and related socio-economic issues.
He will also be required to lead collective bargaining processes on behalf of employers in the hospitality and catering industries; provide leadership and advice on labour and employment matters; and champion learning and development initiatives. Through the interaction with various stakeholders, Tsebo will contribute to the national debate at macro-level.
Tsebo launched in Zimbabwe in September 2018 and has worked hard to create brand awareness and acknowledgment through rebranding, introducing new services and marketing through various media channels. Tsebo is one of the top four creators of employment in Zimbabwe’s hospitality and catering industry.
